Campaign:
RoTF's campaign leaves much to be desired - a choppy storyline with lines in the briefing room that make you want to cringe. The only thing worth completing it for is the final boss fight, mostly for the free 50g of an enemy lacking in tactical requirements.
Multiplayer:
Multiplayer for ROTF is an incredible change from the main storyline - Teams are well balanced and each character has an individual role. Only 'Leader class' units have abilities that give them a higher advantage, but leaves them with limited vehicle capability.
Another difference is that characters no longer say lines that would make any long-time fan of the series facepalm.
